Today's imperialism is composed, like that of the past, of a center, made up of the most "developed" and dominant countries, and a periphery, made up of the least "developed" and dependent countries. However, differently from the the imperialism of the past, the current one is based on indirect control, through capital investments, which are increasingly important as the history of capital develops, and through financial control, the use of an international currency of exchange and transaction, the control of technologies and value chains, and, finally, military strength. USA is the biggest capitalist imperialistic force in the world and It forged its dominion by violence, repression and economic blackmail. But USA is not alone. There are several imperialistic powers (Russian Federation, for example): their existence and inter-imperialist contrasts are of primary importance, because it generates contradictions in the system, producing spaces within which the working class and the comrades can enter. Finally, it should be emphasized that it is always necessary to show, in front of the workers, the intimate link existing between internal socio-economic policies and the position of one's state at the international level. Imperialism is not only a foreign and military policy, but it is above all a stage in the overall evolution of capitalist society.
